How did you go about identifying potential brands to work with for your first sponsorship? Did you reach out to them directly or were you approached by the brand?
I reached out to Dam directly after going through a process for evaluating the fit between my brand and the brand. For me what stuck was that I really liked their package design, the niche they are in and the quality of their products.
What resources or tools did you use to determine what to charge for your services as an influencer?
There are some resources to help establish industry standards on what fair market value is for an influencer to charge are available. I used that as a basis and then built out 3 tiers of service packages.

Engagement rate per post + extras for type of post (x #of posts) + extra factors = total rate.
The unspoken industry standard is $100 per 10,000 followers + extras for type of post (x # of posts) + additional factors = total rate.
Were there any lessons you learned about negotiating the terms of a sponsorship agreement with a brand? Is there anything you would do differently in future negotiations?
Never negotiate below my standard pricing. Chances are they are not the client who understands the value of your service.
Looking back on your experience with this first sponsorship, what advice would you give to other influencers who are just starting out and looking to land their first brand partnership?
Don’t wait for the first client to justify working on the services you offer. Practice builds your portfolio and helps you improve your skills.
